About the University

The University of Jammu (JU) is one of the premier public universities in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. Established in 1969 following the bifurcation of the erstwhile University of Jammu and Kashmir, the university is located on Baba Saheb Ambedkar Road, Jammu. Surrounded by the scenic Shivalik Hills and the River Tawi, the university provides an excellent environment for higher education, research, and innovation. It is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and is accredited with an A++ Grade by NAAC (CGPA 3.72). In the NIRF 2025 Rankings, the university secured 51st rank in the University category and 21st among State Public Universities.
